This mountain was named Island peak by a climbing team of Eric Shipton in 1952 AD. It was named Island peak because of its striking location in the middle of the Chhukung Valley similar to an Island on a sea of ice.

Trek to Island peaks is an interesting and attractive adventure. The peak is also known as Imja Tse peak which is an extension of the Himalayan ridge coming down of the south ridge of Lotse Share and is separated by a small col. By conquering the peak of island, you will be standing on a summit of wonderful mountains and will gain a sense of unforgettable achievement.

The journey of trek starts by taking flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. Then the trip will climb to the Everest base camp and Kalapathar and will further assimilate towards Island Peak. The trekkers require good stamina, fitness and climbing skills.

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu

Day 02: Flight fromKathmandu- Lukla & trek to Phakding, 3-4 hrs

Day 04: Trek fromPhakding- Namche Bazaar, 5-6 hrs

Day 05: Acclimatize day & Excursion

Day 06: Trek fromNamche Bazaar – Tengboche, 5-6 hours

Day 07: Trek from Tengboche- Dingboche

Day 08: Trek from Dingboche- Lobuche, 5-6 hrs

Day 09: Trek from Lobuche- Gorekshep, Everest Base Camp Excursion, 5-7 hrs

Day 10: Trek from Gorak Shep to Kala Pattar and then to Pheriche: 7-8 hours

Day 11: Trek from Pheriche to Chhukung

Day 12: Trek to Island Peak Base Camp, 3-4 hrs

Day 13: Hike toIsland High Camp, 2-3 hrs

Day 14: Hike toIsland Peak summit (6,189m/20,305ft) & return back to Chhukung, 8-10 hours

Day 15: Return back fromChhukung to Tyangboche, 4-5 hrs

Day 16: Back fromTyangboche to Namche, 4-5 hrs

Day 17: Return fromNamche to Lukla, 6-7 hrs

Day 18: Finally to Kathmandu
