Helambu Trek moves towards the nearest of Kathmandu Valley and is only 72 Kilometers far from Kathmandu. Helambu is highly well-known for its picturesqueopulence and pleasant environment. Due to lower elevations, this trek is marked as an easier and perfect trek naearby Kathmandu Valley. Eventhough Helambu is far closer to Kathmandu, Hhyolmo culture, green rhododendron and bamboo forests, splendid waterfalls as well as snow-capped Himalayas all enable travellers to deserve the true sublimity of adventure.
The Helambu Trek initiates from Sundarijal and only after about an hour’s walking, we reach Shivapuri National Park. The trek ends at the Melamchi Pul Bazar that falls under the Helambu Region only after undergoingthe journey along the Chisopani to Shermathang. The hike passes through bushie mountain jungles with enchanting Himalayan scenes and toward the end of the tour; you will also trek through some beautiful rice promenades and variousfabulous Buddhist monasteries.
Since Helambu Walk, near to Kathmandu, is one of the best artistic journeys in central hills, the track takes you to rejoice the spectacular massif views, and especially Buddhist people settled hamlets all the way through the journey. The monasteries well-kept-up by local people reviving their cultural ethos can be seen along with the Helambu Trek. Helambu Trek stream features suave and apposite for the adventure seekers with varying interests. This Trek is liable to be the excellent for those have limited time but still considering for the real Himalayan approach in life.
Days 01: Trek to Chiapani (2300m) – First you drive to Sundarijal (1350m), it takes about one hour and then walk uphill to Chisopani. The trail passes through the Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. The route heads down through the enchanting rhododendron forest to Chisopani (2300m.).
Day 02: Trek to Kutumsang (2446m) – The trail continues Chisopani crossing the meadow and fields. The meadow makes a good camping spot, its downhill to Kutumsang at 2470m, in a saddle atop the ridge.
Day 03: Trek to Tharepati (3650m)-The trek continues north up the Yurin Danda ridge and affords views of the peaks. Tharepati offers breathtaking view of the snow-capped mountains such as Dorje Lakpa, Gaurishankar, Langshisa, Jugal, Numbur and many others.
Day 04: Trek to Tarkeghyang (2743m) via Melamchi Gaon (2640m)-From Tharepati the trail steeply descends through the pine and rhododendron forest with great views down into the Helambu valley and across to Jugal Himal and Numbur in the Solu Khumbu. Tarkeghyang is a beautiful Sherpa village with one of the oldest and biggest monasteries. Tarkeghyang, also known as Helambu is named after the Helmu caste.
Days 05: Trek to Timbu takes- 3 hours walk – drive to Kathmandu – takes about 4 hours.
