Langtang that is situated at and amidst the Himalayan range to the north – Langtang Lirung (7,245m) and other small peaks like Chimse ridge, Jugal Himal to the south is the Nepal’s first national park and is approximately 135 km far from the Kathmandu. Langtang region is very close to the Tibet border, China. It is one of the nearest adventurous trekking destinations from Kathmandu Valley.
Apart from the spectacular sceneries and the natural beauty of this area, the lifestyle and culture of the native Tamangs and their craftsmanship, language as well as cults and values they show to their guests all add the wonderful fragrance to the visitors. The trek here is far more adventurous and exploratorysinceit has many glaciers and high altitude lakes such as Gosainkunda, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda and Dudhkunda.
Although the Langtang Region is very close to Kathmandu, it is almost as equal as any Tibetan hilltops with peacefulbucolic landscape. Most of the people living in the Langtang region are Nepalese. However, they are liable to seem Tibetans, being the progeny of the Tibetan origin. It is the best endpoint for those who have the longing for a short trek from Kathmandu, which is bound to show the Tibetan trace in Nepal.
