Makalu is the world’s fifth highest peak in the world rising to 27,765 feet. Its majestic height is beautiful and impressive, its perfect pyramid structure with four sharp ridges makes the mountain look more spectacular.
Makalu is the world’s fifth highest peak in the world rising to 27,765 feet. Its majestic height is beautiful and impressive, its perfect pyramid structure with four sharp ridges makes the mountain look more spectacular. Mount Makalu is protected by Makalu barun national park which covers 2330 sq. km. It is situated 14 miles east of Everest in the Khumbu region. Makalu is considered as one of the most difficult mountains to explore in the world. Its steep pitches and knife edged ridges makes it look spectacular.
Lionel Terray and Jean Couzy are the first persons to climb Makalu on May 15, 1955. They were from French expedition led by Jean Franco. The team of expedition climbed Makalu by the north face and northeast ridge passing through the saddle between Makalu and Kangchugtse, establishing the standard route.
Cost of Makalu expedition depends on the group size, trip types, budget available, accomodations provided, number of guides, porters and other staffs. Day 07: Khongmadanda – Mumfuk
Day 08: Mumfuk -Yangle Kharak
Day 09: Yangle Khark -Merak
Day 10: Merak -Sersung (half day rest)
Day 11: Sersung – Makalu Base camp
Day 12 – 43: Climbing Makalu 8463m.
Day 43: Makalu Base Camp – Mumbuck
Day 44: Mumbuck – Khongma La
Day 45: Khongma La – Seduwa
Day 46: Seduwa – Chichila
Day 47: Chichila – Tumlingtar
Day 48: Fly to Kathmandu
