Mount Lhotse lies about 3 kilometer south of Mount Everest. It is lower peak of 8383 meter height and is sometimes considered a separate 8000 meter peaks. The main route to Mount Lhotse is through south of Everest and is among one of the highest unclimbed peak in the world. Three complimentary peaks like Lhotse East or middle, Lhotse Shar and Lhotse make Lhotse massif.

In year 1956, first ascent of mount Lhotse was made by a Swiss expedition team from a camp just below the south Co. The Mount was successfully climbed in 1970 by an Australian expedition team. Later various others like Japanese, South Koreans and Germans tried or attempted to conquer the summit via various routes.

Mount Lhotse is best known for its proximity to Mount Everest though it is not the part of Mount Everest. It looks amazing due to its tremendous south face and always being covered with blue ice glacier. Since, South Col connects Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse so, Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse expedition follows the same route. Trip to Mt. Lhotse expedition starts by taking flight to Lukla from Kathmandu which is followed by trial to Everest Base Camp passing through villages of Namche Bazar, Thyanboche, Pheriche, Lobuche and finally the Everest Base Camp.
