Kali Gandaki River Rafting

The name Kali Gandaki comes from the holy word Kali which refers the goddess of destruction, therefore, the river is one of the Nepal’s holy rivers. Flow of water to this river begins from the Tibetan Plateau in Mustang, which flows down via Himalayas carving into the deep gorges between Dhaulagiri and Annapurna.

Kali Gandaki provides one of the terrific, medium length river journey, providing the exitment of white water rapids, majestic miuntains views, beautifully hanging suspension bridges, traditional villages, waterfalls and avenue path in addition. Cultural temples and beautifuk white sandy beaches for camp makes the journey more worthy.

The journey to Kali Gandaki Bridge begins after taking 3 hour drive from Pokhara. The overall trekking in Kali Gandaki River takes 3 days. Within these three days you will get the chance to experience the best all-around river adventure of Nepal.


Detail Itinerary

DAY 1: the journey begins early in the morning from lakeside Pokhara from where the bus takes out to the north side of Pokhara and up into the lower foothills before dropping down to the Kaligandaki River valley. From where the trip will head to the river.

The first rapid of the day is ‘Big Brother’ which is the biggest and maddest of the trip, there is no time for a warm up. The evening is spent camping on a sandy beach just below a village.

DAY 2:  After having tea and coffee, its time to pack up the tents and load gear because this day will be an action packed day of rapids. Taking lunch on a sandy beach will give all time to rest and play in the shallow water before heading on to the night time camping place.

DAY 3: This will be a pleasant morning of playing in some waves on the river and a gentle paddle across the placid waters before the dam. After enjoying the beauty of site, trip will then jump in the bus and head back to Lakeside Pokhara.
